Autobiographical Essay "My Crazy Life"
I believe that wherever you end up in life is all on you. Life gives you obstacles and it is your job is to overcome them. Too many people would rather complain about the problem then trying to find a solution. To me, if there is a problem I was taught to adapt or improvise on the spot to find a solution. As I grew up in life, I began to learn that life isn't fair. Life will beat you down to the point of tears if you let it. You have to persevere and make it through to become a stronger person. You must keep an open mind when problem solving. I've also learned that many people make mistakes, but how you react to those mistakes shows what you really are made of. Past decisions reflect on the person you are, mistakes also comes with knowledge.
I have made all kinds of mistakes in the past, most of them I am ashamed to admit. The thing with mistakes is that everyone chooses to be upset and feel sorry for themselves when they should be trying to learn from it. I remember when I was brought up to varsity football as a freshman towards the end of the year for the playoffs. I was very nervous due to the fact that it was a playoff game, I was only about 135 pounds, and I didn't understand the offense all that well. I went in late in the game, my first varsity snap went right over my head and we lost about 4 yards. I remember going back to the huddle and telling myself “It's alright, just learn from it”. The very next play I threw a bubble screen for 8 yards and the game was over. This is a perfect example of learning from mistakes.
I have also been a hard worker for as long as i remember. I think I have this trait because of my passion for sports. With football and basketball you need to work hard to get where you want to be which relates to life in general. Last year for basketball I was a very good defense of player, but I didn't have much confidence in my shot. I remember my coach telling me to work on my three point shot over the summer in order to have a better shot in the game. Over the summer I would wake up at 6:30 every morning and practice shooting. I would run laps then try shooting to practice shooting while tired. I would throw the ball to myself and catch and shoot from all over the three point line. Now I feel like no one in our league can contest my shot. This shows what hard work will produce which is rewards, but only if you if you work hard enough. Don't be confused when I say rewards because it's not always monitarty, sometimes you have to work hard just for yourself.
I believe setting goals for myself is another good trait I have. I remember when I was a little kid and my dad would bring me with him as the football team would workout. He would take me inside the gym and show me my Grandpas name on the wall for football, and his name up on the wall for baseball. Since that moment I have always wanted to have my name up on that wall to carry on the tradition. As I progressed through high school, winning MVP awards, Heart of a Cardinal awards, Player of the Week awards, and even second team all league quarterback and shooting guard it all meant nothing to me because I could never get my name on that wall. Now that it’s my senior year, I have two more chances at achieving this goal. One quote which always sticks in my head when thinking about getting my name up their is, “Friends come and go, banners hang forever”.
As I look back, I see that I am the type of person who understand that nothing comes easy. Growing up the way I did with sports being heavily influenced I learned at an early age you need to work for everything. I also learned that nobody is perfect, we need to learn from our mistakes and look ahead instead of grieving in the past.
